First, a new single released in mono on December 9, 1963. This is a stereo mix of that original single version.
The stereo version later included on the 1964 Christmas album was a simpler mix with fewer instrumental overdubs.
A third version, recorded in 1964, was not released until 1991.
“Little Saint Nick” by The Beach Boys
The album featured on this page was originally titled “A Christmas Gift For You From Philles Records,” released in mono by Philles Records on the unfortunate date of November 22, 1963. The album features four of Phil Spector’s regular artists.
It was later reissued by Apple Records in 1972 with the new name “Phil Spector’s Christmas Album.” The first stereo release was in 1976 on the Warner-Spector label, and the second was in 1981 on Pavillion Records, a short-lived
subsidiary of Columbia Records. All subsequent reissues in all formats use the original title and have been mono, though some stereo tracks have appeared on recent Christmas compilation CDs.
The tracks below are from my Pavillion stereo LP, purchased new at Woolworth’s.
